Oklahoma Guard Jeremiah Fears Declares for NBA Draft

Choosing to forego his remaining NCAA eligibility, Oklahoma freshman guard Jeremiah Fears formally declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. During an ESPN interview, the 18-year-old revealed his excitement for the next phase of his basketball adventure and discussed his first year.

“I was fortunate to enter Oklahoma in a fantastic environment full of possibilities,” Fears remarked. “Every day, I had excellent coaches and teammates working with me to help a young freshman fulfill his dreams.”

Native of Joliet, Illinois, Fears had an instant effect on his one and only season with the Sooners. Beginning 31 of 34 games, he averaged 17.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists while shooting 43.4 percent from the field. His composure, scoring power, and playability soon attracted national notice; today, he is predicted to be a top 10 pick in June’s draft.

The young talent also revealed he will be getting ready for the draft in New York City under the direction of former NBA player Mike Miller, his agent. “Having someone like him to learn from is fantastic,” Fears remarked. “We’re working on a lot of shooting, ball-screen readings, continuing to be a leader and finding the right balance between scoring and generating for others.”

Fears also turned to social media to praise the Oklahoma program for their great support throughout his stay in Norman. “This year has been a wonderful experience and I am thankful for all the love and support I have received from the OU fan base,” he said. “I want to thank Coach Moser and the whole coaching staff; they believed in me and let me highlight my skills at the University of Oklahoma.”

Looking forward a bright future, all eyes will now be on Fears as he gets ready to leap from college standout to NBA rookie.
